Neighborhood Meetings in April 2019
All Cornwallians were invited to a series of meetings that were held in April 2019
to solicit input for Cornwall's update of its Natural Resource Inventory.
Each meeting focused on a particular neighborhood (or two).
The more input we receive, the better our final product will be.
Thank you to all who joined us in April!

May 19th was Endangered Species Day
Enacted by the US Senate in 2006, Endangered Species Day reminds us to be better stewards of the land in which we live and to champion biodiversity.
One way to celebrate the day, is to learn more about Endangered Species. Here's a suggested reading list compiled by the Endangered Species Coalition;
there are books for all ages.
The Endangered Species Act, passed in 1973,
is administered jointly by the USFWS and NOAA.

Doug Tallamy lecture - Bringing Nature Home
Was held May 12, 2017 at The Hotchkiss School
as
The Salisbury Forum's Spring Lecture
Co-sponsored by the Cornwall Conservation Trust.
Dr. Tallamy entertained 200+ attendees with a spirited presentation about the importance of native trees and plants to the insects that form the base of the food web. These insects, in turn, support healthy breeding bird populations and other wildlife. He made a compelling argument for biodiversity, and encouraged everyone present to plant native species, particularly those that host the greatest diversity of insects:
Tallamy's Top Ten Native Tree/Shrub Species
1. Oak (Quercus spp.)
2. Black Cherry (Prunus spp.)
3. Willow (Salix spp.)
4. Birch (Betula spp.)
5. Poplar (Populus spp.)
6. Crabapple (Malus spp.)
7. Blueberry (Vaccinium spp.)
8. Maple (Acer spp.)
9. Elm (Ulmus spp.)
10. Pine (Pinus spp.)
